United States: 2 students dead and a teacher injured in a shooting in Des Moines

DES MOINES, IOWA: Police say two students were killed Monday and a teacher was injured in a shooting at a Des Moines school on the outskirts of downtown. A student and a teacher were taken to hospital in critical condition, and another person was in stable condition, Des Moines police Sergeant. Paul Parizek had said earlier.
The shooting took place as part of an educational program called Starts Right Here, affiliated with the Des Moines School District.
Police said emergency crews were called to the school, which is in a business park, just before 1 p.m. Officers arrived to find two seriously injured students and immediately began CPR. Both students died in hospital.
About 20 minutes after the shooting, police said officers stopped a car about two miles away and arrested “several suspects”.

Nicholas Krantz said her office near the school was locked down immediately after the shooting and she saw someone fleeing the building with police in pursuit on foot and in patrol cars.
“We just saw a lot of police cars coming in from all over,” Krantz told the Des Moines Register. “It’s terrifying. We’re all worried. We went into lockdown, obviously. We were all told to stay away from windows because we weren’t sure they caught the guy.”
