Railways to issue 2.5 lakh tickets per minute online, up from 25,000 | News from India

NEW DELHI: Booking bar Tickets online and getting your questions answered will be faster from September this year like railway lines it will update the entire backend system. Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Friday that the back-end infrastructure of the next generation e-ticketing passenger booking system will be upgraded to issue 2.5 lakh tickets on line per minute against the current issuing capacity of 25,000.
“Our goal is to increase capacity 10x for both ticketing and handling requests. By September this year, the entire backend system will be updated. The capacity to respond to inquiries will also be increased from four lakhs per minute to 40 lakhs per minute,” Vaishnaw said. He added that security features are being enhanced to ensure that no one can bypass the system to get tickets.
Vaishnaw said the railways will focus more on increasing passenger convenience during 2023-24.
One of the initiatives would be the introduction of ‘Jan Suvidha’ or public convenience stores in 2,000 stations across the country. He said these shops will sell all the items passengers need for their daily and travel needs.
