Microsoft Outlook crashed for several hours overnight, disrupting email and other services in North America and around the world.
“Users primarily in the North American region attempting to access Outlook.com may not be able to send, receive, or search for email. Additional features such as calendar consumed by d ‘Other services such as Microsoft Teams would also be affected,’ the company said on its service page.
Microsoft tweeted that “a recent change contributes to the cause of the impact. We are working on potential solutions to restore service availability.
The outage appears to have started after 10:30 p.m. ET on Monday, according to Downdetector.
In an update released at 4 a.m. ET Tuesday, Microsoft said there has been a gradual improvement in the situation for users outside of North America, but they may continue to “feel some residual impact due to affected parts of the infrastructure”.
“We continue to perform targeted restart operations on primarily impacted infrastructure in North America to restore service availability,” he added.
Microsoft did not immediately respond to a request for comment early Tuesday morning.
