Ravindra Jadeja fined for applying soothing cream without referees consent | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: Star India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was fined 25% of his match fee on Saturday for applying soothing cream without the referees’ permission on the pitch during the first test against Australia in Nagpur.
The handyman was found to be in breach of Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct and was also awarded a demerit point.
The incident occurred on the opening day of the first Test when Jadeja, during the 46th over of Australia’s first innings, was seen applying soothing cream to her forefinger.
Viral videos on social media showed the 34-year-old taking a substance from Mohammed Sirajthe palm of his hand and seemed to rub it on the finger of his left hand.
This is Jadeja’s first offense in a 24-month period and the only demerit point has been added to her disciplinary record.
Indian team management later explained that Jadeja was applying the cream to a swelling on the index finger of her bowling hand.
The southpaw admitted the offense and accepted the penalty proposed by match referee Andy Pycroft.
