Santonio Holmes scores in the last seconds
Super Bowl XLIII, Tampa Bay, 2009 saw the Pittsburgh Steelers claim a dramatic victory against the Cardinals.
With 35 seconds left on the clock, a perfectly placed ball in the back corner of the end zone was caught in a game-winning drive by Santonio Holmes, breaking the hearts of many Cardinals fans, as the Steelers won.
The Blackout Bowl in 2013
Super Bowl XLVII was delayed 34 minutes due to a power outage, plunging parts of the Superdome into darkness.
At the height of a nail-biting showdown between the Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers, most of the lights in the 73,000-seat building went out.
Officials have revealed that a “anomaly” in the power system triggered an automatic shutdown, which forced the backup systems to kick in, according to the NFL’s official website.
Take a knee
A protest against racial injustice and police brutality.
The act of solidarity first began in 2016 with the quarterback Colin Kaepernick taking a knee, followed by other players.
This was in response to the former president Donald Trumpand oppression against blacks across the country.
During halftime of the Super Bowl in 2022, rapper Eminem took one knee.
When speculation arose about the NFL’s resistance to the gesture, the football league quickly pushed back and denied the reports.
“We looked at all elements of the show in multiple rehearsals this week and were aware that Eminem was going to do it,” said league spokesman Brian McCarthy.
Malcolm Butler goal line interception
Super Bowl XLIX featured an unforgettable save that had the crowd screaming.
With seconds left on the clock, Cornerback of the New England Patriots Malcolm Butler brilliantly caught the ball in the end zone to deny the Seattle Seahawks.
“Unreal,” the commentator yelled as Butler sealed the Patriots victory.
The Wide Right or 47 Wide Right by Scott Norwood
Super Bowl XXV might seem like a distant memory, but it’s actually a scene many fans remember.
He was ready, ready, go for a field goal attempt by the Bills.
Norwood was ready to make his move, but ended up kicking the ball wide right.
“It’s not good,” the commentator said as the win was awarded to the Giants in a 20-19 victory.

Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake
Justin Timberlake rocked the stage with his hit song Rock Your Body, along with Janet Jackson at the Super Bowl XXXVIII halftime show.
Towards the closing seconds of the song, Timberlake ripped off Jackson’s top, briefly exposing her breasts on stage.
Nicknamed “nipplegate,” Timberlake famously described it as an unintentional “wardrobe malfunction.”
CBS, which had broadcast that year’s Super Bowl, was fined $550,000 by the Federal Communications Commission but was later overturned.
The capture of David Tyree’s helmet
Super Bowl XLII 2008 shocked many with the epic New York Giants helmet catch by Tyree which is regarded as one of the greatest plays in NFL history.
In the heat of the game, with two minutes to spare, the ball made its way across the field after a forward pass.
Tyree made a perfectly timed jump, grabbing the ball and pressing it against his helmet.
The coin toss
In 2022, Tennis legend Billie Jean King led the coin toss before Super Bowl LVI.
King was the honorary captain of the coin toss along with members of the California School for the Deaf-Riverside Cubs and members of the junior football players of the Inglewood Chargers and Watts Rams.
King conducted the draw to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Title IX, the historic gender equality legislation in sports.
Title IX was passed in 1972 as part of the Education Amendments, abolishing discrimination based on sex in schools, colleges, and other educational programs.
