Valentine’s Day: Animal Shelter Offering Chance To Have An Ex’s Name Written In Cat Litter Box To Reveal List US News

An animal shelter that offers donors the option to have their ex’s name written in a litter box will reveal its list of ex-lovers tomorrow, Valentine’s Day.

of Ohio Animal Friends Humane Society had offered the unique tribute for a contribution of just $5 (£4.15), with litter to be delivered to cats “to let them do what they do best,” according to its website.

According to CNN, about 480 people jumped at the opportunity to get their ex on the list.

In hopes of boosting donations, the promotion on the shelter’s website reads, “Do you have a crappy ex?

“Don’t spend this Valentine’s Day down!

“Instead, cheer yourself up while making a difference for animals in need!”

The shelter, based in the city of Hamilton, said it was accepting donations until the Sunday before the big day, with plans to show all the names it received in a video post.

Meanwhile, the Animal Friends Humane Society, founded in 1952 to provide homes for abandoned and abused animals, currently has about 22 cats available for adoption.

Its website states that its mission is to “promote humane principles, protect lost, homeless, abandoned and abused animals, and act as animal advocates in our communities.”

The shelter’s promotion is one of many anti-Valentine’s Day campaigns, with the San Antonio Zoo offering people the chance to name a cockroach after an ex and watch it being fed to an animal, all for a small donation .
