A Tennessee National Guard Black Hawk helicopter crashed in Alabama, killing all on board.

“We have no survivors,” said investigator Brent Patterson. “We have a crime scene here. We recorded it.”

He said he wasn’t sure of the exact number of casualties, but that no one on the ground was hurt.

However, US military officials, speaking anonymously, said two people died.

The UH-60 Black Hawk was reportedly on a training mission when it crashed and caught fire at 3:00 p.m. local time Wednesday.

Video showed thick black smoke billowing from the scene on Highway 53 in Madison County, approximately 10 miles northwest of Huntsville.

Soldiers of Alabama Law enforcement highway patrol was at the scene, along with deputies from the local sheriff’s office.

The Black Hawk has been used by militaries around the world for decades and is considered a reliable and adaptable aircraft.

It can carry up to 12 troops and the US Army operates more than 2,000.

Area U.S. Representative Dale String tweeted, “I am deeply saddened by the fatal helicopter crash in Madison County today.

“My heart aches for those who lost their lives in this tragic accident and their families as they hear this news.”
