“I didn’t do anything,” Tire Nichols pleads

A solicitor for Mr Nichols’ family says Hemphill should also be charged for his role in the events leading up to his death.

Lawyer Antonio Romanucci told Sky News: “Preston Hemphill, I think, should be charged.

“Despite the fact that he wore a uniform, badge and shield and was legally entitled to carry a weapon, you are not allowed to use force when no one is using it against you.

“There is no evidence that Tire posed a threat to him or anyone in the vicinity and, if this is correct, Preston Hemphill used disproportionate and unlawful force and therefore would be criminal.”
