Women’s T20 World Cup: Australia are strong team but we can beat them, says Indian Richa Ghosh | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: India’s best goalkeeper-batsman Richa Gosh on Wednesday he said the five-time Australian champions were “beatable”. India will lock horns with the Southern Stars in the semi-final of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup on Thursday.
Australia has been India’s black team in recent years, but Ghosh is confident of that Meg LanningThe team of is beatable.
“Australia are beatable, in our last series we beat them and we beat them before. They are a strong team but we can beat them,” said Ghosh on the eve of the all-important semi-final in Newlands, Cape Town. .
“We are trying to improve our mentality. Everyone has the game, but the team that is mentally strong will win. We have been working on it,” added Ghosh.
Australia have been a dominant force in the format since last winning the edition in 2020 on home soil. In the last 22 months, Australia have only lost one T20I and that defeat came to India away from home in a Super Over. The five-time champions are unbeaten in the tournament so far, having won all their group stage matches.
Ghosh believes beating Australia will be a “huge confidence booster” ahead of the grand final.

Though India lost the five-match series 1-4 to Australia in December, the scoreline didn’t do justice to how far the ‘Women in Blue’ pushed the team further up the world in the five matches. And once again Harmanpreet Kaur and Co. aim to do the same.
After playing in the December series, the teenage Under-19 World Cup winner said India are keen to exploit Australia’s weaknesses.
“We know Australia’s weakness and are planning against it, but I won’t say what it is (weakness) because then they will be prepared for it,” Ghosh said.
Tough Ghosh said India will play a similar attacking match to Australia.

“They hit a lot. So whatever happens to them, even if the hitter is out, they don’t leave the offense. Because they have top-down hitters. We also have top-down hitters. So, we’re going to play a attacking game” Ghosh said.
Indian batting star Ghosh added that India would need to field at least 180 on board to challenge the depth of Australia’s batting lineup.
“Australia are comfortable chasing because they beat deep, so are we, but the draw is in no one’s hands. So whatever the situation, we’ll have to go all the way. We have plans,” Ghosh, the India’s best away finisher, he said.
โ€œWe don’t know how the pitch will perform tomorrow but it looks nice. We can aim for 180 on this if all our batsmen are clicking and when bowling we will try to limit them to 140-150 because they have good batting formation,โ€ Ghosh said .
In Ghosh, India has unearthed a much needed finisher and the youngster has not disappointed. Talking about his game, he said: “There are always ups and downs, even though I’ve had them but I’ve learned a lot from there, how you can handle a situation. When I go to bat, my pressure management has improved.”
“I just see the ball and try to play by it, I don’t see who is bowling because if we start to think that a top bowler is bowling then the nervousness sets in,” he said.
