Steve Smith to lead Australia in 4th test against India as Pat Cummins stays home to stay with his sick mother | Cricket News

AustraliaTrial Captain Pat Cummins will continue to stay close to his ailing mother in Australia which means Steve Smith will once again skipper the team for the fourth and final Border-Gavaskar Trophy round against India in Ahmedabad.
Cummins returned home after the second test in Delhi to be with his mother, and Smith led the team to victory in Indore.
Cricket.com.au reported that Cummins will remain in Sydney.

Three ODIs follow the final Test and a decision on Cummins’ participation in those games will be made at a later date.
Smith had captained Australia to a nine-wicket win in Indore last week. India lead the series 2-1 and need a win to qualify for the World Test Championship (WTC) final.
With victory in Indore, Australia qualified for the WTC Summit clash in London in June.

According to cricket.com.au, Nathan Ellis has been signed to replace the injured Jhye Richardson in the Australian ODI squad.
The ODI series starts on 17 March.
