NEW DELHI: Virat Kohli has etched his name in the record books by becoming the second Indian player to catch 300 catches in international cricket.
The Indian star hitter arrived at the landmark when he took Nathan LyonsFirst-round catch from Ravichandran Ashwin to end Australia’s first run on day two of the fourth and final Test in Ahmedabad.
India head coach Rahul Dravid tops the rankings with 334 catches in international cricket. Former skipper Mohammad Azharuddin is third on the list after catching 261 catches during his 16-year long career.
When it comes to the cricket test, Kohli surpassed Sunil Gavaskar’s tally of 108 catches. Dravid also tops the longer format with 210 takes to his name.
Coming to the match, India reached 36 for no loss at the stumps, still trailing the tourists by 444 runs.
Skipper Rohit Sharma, 17, and Shubman Gill, 18, looked positive and attacked the Australian spinners, who had five of 10 overs before the end of the game.
