Ashwin-Jadeja’s shoes will be big ones to fill: Rohit Sharma | Cricket News

AHMEDABAD: India had a lot to take away from their 2-1 series win over Australia. The continued dominance of R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja at home is one of them.
The spinning duo shared the Series Player award after tallying 47 wickets between them. India captain Rohit Sharma said he hoped Ashwin and Jadeja would be there when Australia return in 2027.
“For Indian cricket, I hope they stay and play for a long time,” Sharma said. Ashwin is 36 and Jadeja 34. They will be 40 and 38 respectively in 2027. The pair have been arch-enemies to every touring crew and Australian drummers have fallen prey to their trickery more than anyone.
Ashwin, 36, picked 114 of his 474 Test wickets against Australia while Jadeja, 34, scalped 85 of his 264 wickets against them.
“Both are marathon runners for us. They know exactly how to get the job done, especially in this part of the world. You give them the ball, they’ll give you those breakthroughs. Along with the bat, they get you crucial runs. They are important players for us. A big part of our success belongs to these two guys. Of course, it’s not just for a period of a few years, but it’s for a decade. These shoes will be great to fill. Sharma said.
