Testimony resumed Wednesday in a trial in Utah over a 2016 ski collision involving Gwyneth Paltrow.

The actress and businesswoman sits in the Park City, Utah courtroom where opening statements began in the case on Tuesday. Terry Sanderson, 76, accused Paltrow of hitting him and causing lasting injuries and brain damage while the two of them were skiing on a beginner’s slope on a mountain in Utah in February 2016.

The two have been in a legal battle for seven years.

Sanderson’s attorneys are expected to call some of his doctors to the stand to testify on Wednesday.

In court documents obtained by CNN, Sanderson said that while skiing at Deer Valley Resort, Paltrow allegedly “skied out of control … knocking him down hard, knocking him unconscious and causing him brain damage, four broken ribs and injuries to his body.” other serious injuries. โ€

Paltrow filed a countersuit against Sanderson, a retired optometrist, claiming he skied into her.

According to Paltrow’s countersuit, she was “enjoying skiing with her family on vacation in Utah, when the plaintiff – who was uphill from Ms. Paltrow – rammed her back. Sanderson originally sued Paltrow for $3.1 million, but later amended his suit and is now seeking more than $300,000 in damages, according to court documents.

Paltrow seeks $1 in damages, plus attorney’s fees.

The trial is expected to last a week.
