IPL new rule allows captains naming of playing XI after toss: Report | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 will see a new rule that will help captains choose their final playing XI after the draw, ESPNcricinfo reported.
This decision would allow the captains to come with the different squad sheets and, depending on the outcome of the draw, they would hand over their final playing XI with the appropriate impact player included.
“Currently, captains must swap squad rosters before the draw. This has been changed to swapping squads immediately after the draw, to allow teams to choose the best XI depending on whether they beat or bowling first. This will also help the teams plan for the impact player,” reported ESPNcricinfo.
Thus, the IPL joins the SA20 as second T20 franchise event to allow teams to disclose their starting line-up after the draw.

Teams list 13 players on the squad roster for the SA20, which recently held its first season, before declaring their final XI after the draw.
The IPL has adopted a similar strategy currently, another crucial element being the neutralization of the influence of dew, which has historically had a significant impact on matches at various Indian grounds, negatively affecting teams playing second.
Other IPL game condition adjustments:
Rate overrun penalty of only four outfielders outside the 30-yard circle for each overrun not completed within the allotted time.
An unfair movement of the wicketkeeper will result in a dead ball and 5 penalty points.
Unfair movement by a defensive player will result in a dead ball and 5 penalty points.
