A notice issued to states/UTs jointly by Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan and ICMR Director-General Rajiv Bahl said most of the active cases of Covid-19 in the country are largely reported by a few states as Kerala (26%), Maharashtra (22%), Gujarat (14%), Karnataka (9%) and Tamil Nadu (6%).
“While hospitalization and death rates remain low, largely due to the significant COVID-19 vaccination coverage achieved across all states/UT, this gradual increase in cases necessitates reinvigorated public health actions to contain the increase,” the advisory said. .
