Pakistani police launch crackdown on Imran Khan’s party workers ahead of Minar-e-Pakistan rally

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani police on Saturday launched a crackdown on party workers and blocked the road leading to the place, ahead of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) public rally in Minar-e-Pakistan, Geo reported News.
Roads to Minar-e-Pakistan from Ravi Bridge and Railway Station are blocked and containers have been placed at Shah Alam Market.
Meanwhile, the PTI also claimed that more than 50 workers from different areas of Rahim Yar Khan, while 26 workers including the son of PTI leader Javed Akhtar Ansari were arrested in Multan, Geo News reported.
The PTI claimed that many workers were also detained in Lodhran and Bhakkar.
Earlier today, former Prime Minister and Head of PTI Imran Khan tweeted: “Tonight will be our 6th jalsa in Minar e Pakistan and my heart tells me it will break all records. I invite everyone in Lahore to attend after Tarawih (special prayer for Muslims. perform only during the month of Ramadan) I will give my vision of Haqeeqi Azadi and how we will get Pak out of the mess that the cabal of crooks put our country.
“They will put up all kinds of barriers to prevent people from attending, but I want to remind our people that it is their fundamental right to attend a political rally. Everyone must assert their right as a people of a free nation that has won its independence and is coming to Minar e Pakistan,” he added.
The deposed prime minister, who was ousted last year in April in a vote of no confidence, is calling on people to come to Minar-e-Pakistan to protest the so-called ‘London Plan’ and the rowdiness created at his residence in Zaman Park. during the search operation.
The former prime minister has announced a “historic” public rally at Minar-e-Pakistan in Lahore on March 19 as part of his ongoing election campaign.
However, the Lahore High Court (LHC) prevented the PTI from holding a rally and asked the party to let the citizens go about their routine lives. Later, Imran Khan again announced a power show on March 22 from the same location, according to Geo News.
His announcement comes a day after clashes erupted between police and PTI supporters as Imran Khan reached the court complex in Islamabad to appear before the court of the Toshakhana case.
Without mentioning the name of PML-N Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz, the PTI leader said, “The ‘Queen of Lies’ wants to have a level playing field before the general election is held, but all this is part of London’s plan as they want to throw me out of their way as they know full well the PTI will sweep them away,” according to the News International.
