Borre stunner gives Colombia 2-1 win over Japan in football friendly | Football News

NEW DELHI: Colombian striker Raphael Borre came on with a superb overhead strike to lead his side to a 2-1 victory against Japan during a friendly match in Osaka on Tuesday.
Japan took an early lead through the Brighton winger Kaoru Mitoma in the third minute of the match with an imposing header but an Aston Villa teenager John Duran made it 1-1 for Colombia in the first half.
But the goal of the day came just over 60 minutes when Eintracht Frankfurt striker Borre scored the winning goal with an acrobatic strike, launching into a right-footed scorcher that went past the Japanese keeper. Daniel Schmitt.
Colombia came into the game after a 2-2 draw with South Korea in Seoul last week, while Japan drew 1-1 with Uruguay in Tokyo.
Mitoma has been in scintillating form since joining Brighton last summer and he gave Japan the perfect start when he rose to beat Hidemasa Morita’s cross past Colombia keeper Camilo Vargas.

Colombia saw little of the ball in the first half, but they equalized in the 33rd minute when Deiver Machado attacked down the left before cutting the ball away for Duran to drive home.
from Japan Takuma Nishimurawho scored against Uruguay on Friday, fired wide as the home side tried to fight back before half-time.
Colombia showed more attacking intent after the break and Jorge Carrascal nearly scored with a deflected shot that looped over the crossbar.
Borre showed him how it was done a few minutes later, and Colombia held on to their lead when Vargas repelled Japanese striker Ayase Ueda’s header with a close-range save.
