PM Modi to close first Vande Bharat with 8 coaches; railways to get 64 such trains | News from India

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to close the first Vande Bharat train with eight carriages on April 8 Chennai-Coimbatore the train will have an executive carriage and will accommodate 530 passengers. All other Vande Bharat trains have 16 carriages.
Sources said the railways will produce 64 such trains in eight-car configuration, which will help the national carrier speed up the train rollout. They added that this move will also meet the requirements of industries where passenger numbers are lower and operating 16 coach trains is financially impractical. There are several routes where the number of passengers is not sufficient for such long trains and the need can be met by operating an eight or twelve carriage Vande Bharat.
THE Indian Railways they are racing against time to meet the PM’s target of running 75 Vande Bharat trains by 15th August. Officials said producing the shorter version of the trains will help them put on a better show within that deadline.
