NEW DELHI: Royal Challengers Bangalore batsman Virat Kohli has been fined 10 percent of his match fees for breaching the IPL code of conduct during his team’s match against Chennai Super Kings at M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
“Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batsman Virat Kohli fined 10% of his match fee for breaching IPL code of conduct during TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK ) at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru,” the IPL said in a statement.
“Mr Kohli has admitted to a level 1 offense under Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct,” he added.
In particular, for Level 1 violations of the Code of Conduct, the decision of the Match Referee is final and binding.

The Chennai Super Kings held on for an eight run win against Royal Challengers Bangalore in a high scoring IPL match on Monday.
RCB lost despite the brilliant partnership of Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell in a match which featured a record 33 sixes in Bangalore.
Devon Conway and Shivam Dube blasted 83 and 52 respectively to help CSK field first an impressive 226/6 in bats.
Conway set the tone for the match with his 45-ball hitting, laced with six sixes, while making great partnerships with Ajinkya Rahane and then Dube.
Rahane batted 37 before being bowled by Wanindu Hasaranga but Conway held the charge with Dube for company in a partnership of 80 off 37 balls.
RCB attempted to pull things back with wickets from Conway, who was named man of the match, and Dube, who started after an innings of 27 balls.
But Moeen Ali guided CSK to the gigantic total with his unbeaten 19 nine ball.
RCB skipper Du Plessis (62) and Maxwell (76) enlivened the home crowd to a superb pair of 126s.
Du Plessis and Maxwell charged into CSK’s attack, scoring 12 sixes after losing two early wickets, including Virat Kohli in the first over.
Dhoni played his part with two high catches to dismiss the dangerous pair, with Maxwell and Du Plessis both falling within the space of two overs.
Maheesh Theekshana removed Maxwell after his 36-ball blitz, including eight shots over the edge, and Moeen Ali sent Du Plessis back.
Dinesh Karthik scored a 28 off 14 balls but CSK regained control with regular wickets as RCB could not keep up with the required rate.
With 19 points needed to win from the final over, Matheesha Pathirana kept her composure giving away just 10 and the RCB finished on 218/8.
Four-time champions CSK moved up to third place in the 10-team table with three wins in five games.
The statement did not specify the incident, but the fine possibly came as a result of Kohli’s exuberant celebration of CSK batsman Shivam Dube’s wicket. Dube was caught deep by Mohammed Siraj in the 17th over when he threatened to take the RCB off.
Virat didn’t have a great game with the bat against CSK. After hitting a border against the pacer of the left arm Akash SinghKohli was unlucky, as the ball struck him off his bat and rebounded off the stumps, forcing him back to the bench in the very first over of a mammoth 227 run chase.
Fifty-year-old forwards Devon Conway (83 for 45) and Shivam Dube (52 for 27) took CSK to 226/6. The CSK bowlers then kept their nerve and survived blitzes from Glenn Maxwell (76 for 36) and Faf Du Plessis (62 for 33) to win the match by 8 runs on Monday.
