Want to put my head down and work hard: Virat Kohli on 7000-run milestone | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: As Virat Kolhi became the first hitter to hit the elusive 7,000 run mark in the IPL, the racing machine called it “another milestone” and said he wanted to put his head down and keep working hard.
On his return to Ferozeshah Kotla, where he started his cricket journey, Kohli shone with a 46-ball 55 for his sixth half of the season to guide Royal Challengers Bangalore to a solid 181 for 4 against Capitals from Delhi.
Kohli was playing his 233rd match since the IPL’s inception in 2008 when he hit the 7,000 run milestone. He entered the game with 6,988 points in 232 games.
“7000 runs is just another milestone on the journey of what I’m trying to do for my team. It’s a good number when you’re trying to do something for your team,” Kohli said after his fifty-year record.

“I want to put my head down and keep working hard.”
Kohli’s family and his childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma were present at the stadium to watch the former India captain play his comeback match. He was seen touching Sharma’s feet before the game to pay tribute to his coach.
“It’s a special time…my family is here, my coach is here, cricket is part of my life. I was honored to have a clubhouse named after me. I started my journey here and I started playing for Delhi here.
“I never imagined all of these things would come to this and there’s gratitude for it all,” the 34-year-old right-handed hitter said.
On the scintillating innings played by Mahipal Lomror, who hit 54 off 29 balls, Kohi said: “It was amazing and me and Faf thought 160 would be a good score. Mahipal came and changed the game, moved momentum towards us.
“My job was to beat deep and get those late runs but DK (Dinesh Karthik) and Mahi (Lomror) did a great job as well. It gives seniors like me and Faf a lot of confidence at this stage of the tournament. It’s a very good sign for the team.”
