Novak Djokovic battles past Grigor Dimitrov into Italian Open last 16 | Tennis News

ROME: Novak Djokovic reached the round of 16 at the Italian Open on Sunday after winning a battle with Grigor Dimitrov, 6-3, 4-6, 6-1.
Six-time Roma champion Djokovic initially looked in better shape than his slow tournament opener against Tomas Etcheverry, but he battled again against the former world number three.
No longer wearing the elbow brace he had in Friday’s second-round match, Djokovic appeared to have recovered from the injury that forced him to miss the Madrid Masters last week.

In the next round, Djokovic will face Cameron Norrie or Marton Fucsovics as he seeks another win in Italy ahead of Roland Garros later this month.
