According to police, two people have been arrested in South Carolina on charges of attempting to transport illegal drugs under a fake pregnancy belly.
Suspects Anthony Miller and Cemeka Mitchem were stopped by police in April after their car nearly collided with an 18-wheeler.
At the time, Mitchem looked visibly pregnant, the Anderson County Sheriff’s Department said, but when questioned separately, the couple gave conflicting information about the baby’s due date.
Realizing the police were getting suspicious, Mitchem started running and “very quickly drugs fell out of the fake rubber stomach,” the sheriff’s department said in a statement on social media.
Deputies discovered more than 1,500 grams of cocaine during the arrest, according to the sheriff’s office.
The couple remains under house arrest.
