UP Police Kill Two ‘Cop Killers’ During Encounter | News from India

JHANSI: Two assailants who allegedly killed an on-duty police officer last week were eliminated in a meeting with police officers in Jalaun Sunday. They have been identified as Ramesh (38) and Kallu aka Umesh (30).
Four days ago, cop Bhedjeet Singh (36) was killed by the men being transported by motorcycles after trying to stop them near a highway post in Jalaun. Bhedjeet’s autopsy revealed 25 cuts on his body caused by a sharp weapon. Four squads of police and the Special Task Force they were put to work tracking down the attackers.
DG Special, public order, Prashan Kumar, said the two attackers were traced based on the tip and surveillance of informants. “On Sunday a police team was pursuing the two and intercepted them near an abandoned factory. They were asked to surrender but they opened fire. In retaliation, Ramesh and Kallu were wounded by bullets. district hospital”. Kumar said.
SP Jalaun Iraj Raja said a country-made .32 caliber handgun and a .315 caliber handgun were recovered from the pair. The policeman’s wallet and mobile phone were also seized.
