NEW DELHI: Gujarat Titans have become the first team to make the playoffs of the IPL 2023. They entered the playoffs after a stunning 34-point victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Monday. The win took the Titans to 18 points in 13 games. They are now assured of a top two spot as SRH was held at 8 points in 12 games and joined the Delhi Capitals in withdrawing from the tournament. Former India wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel is impressed with the batting technique of Shubman Gill, who played a game-winning shot of the century.
Gill scored 101 on 58 balls and his 147-point partnership with Sai Sudharsan (47 runs) for the second wicket helped the Titans to a solid 188/9.

His first home Test century, in the 4th Test against Australia earlier this year, also came in Ahmedabad
“What I enjoyed the most was seeing him use his technique. All the shots we saw brought the ball to him. He didn’t try to kick it and that allowed him to succeed to find the gaps. When playing on a bouncy pitch, you have to let the ball come to you. This is how you control the ball and hit where it needs to go. When it was placed, it was able to get a century. He hit centuries in T20, ODI, and test cricket on this ground,” JioCinema IPL expert Parthiv Patel said of Gill.
