A number of statistical records have been broken this IPL season.

# Seventeen wickets pocketed by speedsters conceding 214 runs at 12.58 runs apiece at a save rate of 7.9 in 27 overs in the match between Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad in Ahmedabad on May 15 is an IPL record. The spinners threw 13 overs conceding 123 runs at an economy rate of 9.5 without capturing a single wicket.

# Mohammed Shami captured 15 wickets (ave 15.86) in thirteen innings on the power play – the most by any bowler in this IPL. Only two bowlers have claimed more wickets in an IPL season on the power play – 16 wickets at 14.75 in seventeen innings by Mitchell Johnson in 2013 and Trent Boult at 15.12 in fifteen innings in 2020.
# With 21 wickets at 18.66 runs apiece in thirteen games in this IPL, Yuzvendra Chahal became the first bowler to win 20 or more wickets in an IPL season five times. He previously accomplished the feat in 2015 (23), 2016 (21), 2020 (21) and 2022 (27). Lasith Malinga had obtained the distinction 4 times – in 2011 (28), 2012 (22), 2013 (20) and 2015 (24).
# Rajasthan Royals (59) suffered their biggest defeat by points in IPL history, losing by 112 points to Royal Challengers Bangalore (171/5) in Jaipur on March 14. It remains the lowest total of any team in this IPL.
# Rajasthan (59) recorded their second lowest total behind 58 against RCB in Cape Town on April 18, 2009 – and the third lowest of any team – the lowest being 49 by Bangalore against Kolkata at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on April 23, 2017.
# Royal Challengers Bangalore have won four games by 100 or more runs – the first team to accomplish the feat in the IPL. Their previous three wins were recorded at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru – by 144 runs against Gujarat Lions on May 14, 2016; by 138 points against Punjab Kings on May 6, 2015 and by 130 points against Pune Warriors on April 23, 2013.

# Rinku Singh of Kolkata has been in splendid form in this IPL, amassing 407 runs (ave 50.87), including three fifty, over thirteen innings at a strike rate of 143.30 – the most by a Kolkata batter. No other KKR batsman even averages 35.
# Rinku is only the fifth hitter to manage over 400 runs while batting at number five or less in an IPL season, joining Dinesh Karthik (2018), David Miller (2022), Kieron Pollard (2013) and Andre Russell ( 2019).
# Rinku has hit 25 sixes – the most by a KKR hitter in this IPL. His tally includes eighteen sixes while chasing – the most by any batter in current competition.
# Rajasthan Royals had faced 10.3 overs while being dismissed for 59 – the second shortest inning after RCB’s 9.4 overs while scoring 49 against Kolkata at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on April 23, 2017.
# Royal Challengers Bangalore have won 30 wickets so far in the power play – the most by a team in this IPL. This is their best performance in IPL history.

# Faf du Plessis took 121 innings to run to 4,000 runs – the fourth fastest at this IPL milestone – the three fastest being Lokesh Rahul (105), Chris Gayle (112) and David Warner (114). Virat Kohli had taken 128 innings and AB de Villiers (131) – they are fifth and sixth fastest in the IPL.
# Faf du Plessis scored 631 runs at an average of 57.36, including seven fifty, over twelve innings at a 154.27 strike rate to become the first batter to score 600+ runs in IPL 2023.
# du Plessis has scored seven fifty – the most by any hitter in this edition of the IPL. This performance is also his best, surpassing the six rounds in sixteen recorded in 2021.
# Mumbai Indians recorded their fifth 200+ score in this competition – the first team to accomplish the feat in an IPL season. Chennai Super Kings (2018, 2022 and 2023), Punjab Kings (2014 and 2023), Kolkata Knight Riders (2019 and 2023), Royal Challengers Bangalore (2016), Rajasthan Royals (2023) recorded four totals over 200 in a season.
# Rashid Khan’s unbeaten 79 on 32 balls against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on May 12 is the highest by a number eight or under hitter in IPL history.
# Rashid Khan (79 not out + 4/30) became the third all-rounder to register over 75 and produce a four-wicket carry in an IPL match, joining Yuvraj Singh (83 + 4/35 against Rajasthan in Bengaluru on May 11, 2014) and Paul Valthaty (75+4/29 vs Deccan Chargers in Hyderabad on April 16, 2011).

# Rashid Khan has hit ten sixes in his aforementioned innings – the most by any batter in one inning this IPL. His tally of sixes is also the highest of any batter at number eight or less in Twenty20 cricket.
# Mumbai Indians’ tally of 218 for five – their best ever in this IPL – is the highest of any team against Gujarat Titans in the IPL, topping 207 for seven by KKR in Ahmedabad on April 9, 2023 .
# Mumbai Indians became the first team to record five totals over 200 in an IPL season – twice against Punjab and one against Rajasthan Royals, Bangalore and Gujarat Titans.
# Four of five total over 200 in successful chases accomplished by Mumbai Indians is a record for any team in an IPL season.
# Another IPL record set by Mumbai Indians is their three consecutive chases – 214 for 4 v Rajasthan (212/7) at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on 30 April; 216 for four against Punjab (214/3) at Mohali on May 3 and 200 for four against RCB (199/6) at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on May 9.

# Suryakumar Yadav’s unbeaten strike of 103 from 49 against the Gujarat Titans at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on May 12 is his highest score in the IPL – his first cent – his fourth in Twenty20 cricket. His previous high in IPL was 83 against RCB at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on May 9, 2023.
# Yadav is the first hitter to post a hundred against Gujarat Titans in the IPL. The previous best against them was 92 by Ruturaj Gaikwad for Chennai in Ahmedabad on March 31, 2023.
# Sunrisers’ Bhuvneshwar Kumar (5/30) and Gujarat’s Mohammed Shami (4/21) and Mohit Sharma (4/28) in Ahmedabad on May 15 provided the first instance of three bowlers taking four or more wickets in an IPL match .
# Bhuvneshwar Kumar (5/30) produced his second five-wicket shot in the IPL – his best being 5 for 19 against Punjab in Hyderabad on April 17, 2017. He is the first Sunrisers bowler to win two five-wicket shots in the IPL. Only two other bowlers – James Faulkner of Rajasthan and Jaydev Unadkat of RCB have recorded two five-wicket runs in IPL history.
# A record of over 200 totals was set in this IPL – 31. The same is unlikely to be surpassed easily. The tally includes seven totals while successfully pursuing – another IPL record – three times by Mumbai Indians, one each by Kolkata, Lucknow, Punjab and Sunrisers.
# Eleven games in this edition have seen a total of over 200 from both teams in the same match – an all-time high in the IPL, surpassing five in 2022.

# Thirteen times in this edition, a total of over 400 matches have been observed – another first in IPL history. Three times in Mumbai (WS), twice in Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata and Mohali and once in Jaipur.
# Before the start of the May 17 match between PBKS and DC, the top five run-getters in this IPL are – Faf du Plessis (631), Shubman Gill (576), Yashasvi Jaiswal (575), Devon Conway (498) and Suryakumar Yadav (486).
# Top wicket takers with 20 or more scalps are – Mohammed Shami (23), Rashid Khan (23), Yuzvendra Chahal (21) and Piyush Chawla (20).
# A century and a run of five wickets in the same IPL game was recorded for the second time in IPL history – the first instance being Jos Buttler (103) and Yuzvendra Chahal (5/40) – Rajasthan vs KKR at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai on April 18, 2022.
# Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan shared a partnership of 147 for the second wicket – Gujarat Titans’ highest position for any wicket in the IPL, erasing the 142 for the first wicket between Gill and Wriddhiman Saha against Lucknow Super Giants in Ahmedabad on May 7, 2023
# 78.19% of runs recorded by the second pair of wickets (147) out of a total of 188 – the highest in a century when any player has struck in a Twenty20 inning.
# Shubman Gill (101 from 58 balls) scored his first cent in the IPL, eclipsing 96 against Punjab Kings at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai on April 8, 2022. The said innings are his third century in Twenty20 cricket.

# Run-aggregate of 576 at an average of 48.00 including one hundred and four fifty, in thirteen innings recorded by Shubman Gill, providing the first instance when he amassed over 500 runs in an IPL season, surpassing 483 (with 34 .50) in sixteen innings in 2022. His tally is a record for any Gujarat player in an IPL season.
# Gill, with a total of 1059 at an average of 40.73, including one hundred and eight fifty, in 29 innings, became the first batter from Gujarat to amass over 1000 runs in the IPL.
