NEW DELHI: In A major Government reshuffle of the unionArjun Ram Meghwal was appointed as the new law minister on Thursday. Kiren Rijijuwho lost the ministry, has now been awarded the portfolio of ministry of earth sciences.
President Droupadi Murmu, as advised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has reallocated portfolios among ministers in the union cabinet, said a statement released by the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Meghwal, the minister of state, has been given the independent post of minister of state in the ministry of law and justice in addition to his existing portfolios. He is currently Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Minister of State for Culture.
Union Minister Jitendra Singh was in charge of the ministry of earth sciences.
This development comes amidst the struggles over the SC collegium system.
