India advocates respect for sovereignty: Modi on China | News from India

Amid China’s military expansion in the South China Sea and East China Sea, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday that India was committed to protecting its sovereignty and integrity while promoting peaceful settlement of maritime disputes on the basis of the international law.
In an interview with the Japanese newspaper ‘Yomiuri Shimbun‘, Modi, during his visit to Hiroshima to attend the G7 summit, said that the G7 and G20 summits are crucial platforms for global cooperation. “As G20 President, he will represent the perspectives and priorities of the global South at the G7 summit,” Modi She said.
Asked how India will deal with China’s military expansion in the South China Sea and East China Sea and the growing tension in the Taiwan Strait to maintain international law and territorial integrity, Modi said, “India supports respect for sovereignty, the peaceful resolution of disputes and respect for international law”.
