Joe Biden unveils new $375 million US military aid package for Ukraine

HIROSHIMA: US President Joe Biden on Sunday announced a new $375 million military aid package to Ukraine and told President Volodymyr Zelensky that the United States was doing everything it could to bolster Ukraine’s defense in the war with Russia.
Meeting the Ukrainian leader on the sidelines of the G7 world leaders summit in Hiroshima, Japan, Biden said the military aid package included munitions, artillery, armored vehicles and training.
“Along with the entire G7, we support Ukraine and I promise we’re not going anywhere,” Biden told Zelenskyy.
At the meeting, Biden stressed his country’s willingness to help build Ukraine’s long-term ability to defend against and deter Russian aggression, the White House said.
To that end, Biden discussed U.S. support for a joint effort with allied and partner nations to train Ukrainian pilots on fourth-generation fighter jets such as the F-16, he said.
Zelenskyy thanked the United States for the new package and for the $37 billion in financial assistance so far, his office said.
