NEW DELHI: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi paid moving tribute to his late father on Sunday and remembered former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 32nd death anniversary. “On the 32nd anniversary of his passing, I pay heartfelt tribute to my beloved father, Rajiv Gandhi. Dad, you continue to be my eternal inspiration, forever residing in my memories!” Rahul Gandhi expressed his emotions in a touching message.

Today, Rahul Gandhi accompanied by his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, paid floral tributes at the Rajiv Gandhi memorial in New Delhi. Congress Parliamentary Party Chairman Sonia Gandhi and Party Chairman Mallikarjun Kharge also honored the former prime minister’s memory on the anniversary of his death.
Rajiv Gandhi took over the leadership of the Congress party in 1984, following the tragic assassination of his mother, Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. At the age of 40, he became India’s youngest prime minister in October 1984. His tenure as prime minister lasted until 2 December 1989.
Born on August 20, 1944, Rajiv Gandhi was tragically assassinated on May 21, 1991, during an election rally in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, by a suicide bomber from the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).
