Bombay HC Extends Sameer Wankhede Interim Orders Until 8 June In Aryan Khan Bribery Case | Mumbai News

MUMBAI: Bombay High Court extended interim protection for Sameer Wankhedeformer NCB zonal director, until 8 June. Wankhede is accused of demanding Rs 25 crore bribe from Shah Rukh Khan to avoid involving his son Aryan in the Cordelia Cruise, “drug arrest” case.. On Friday, the court ordered the CBI not to take any enforcement action against Wankhede, who is an IRS official, until May 22.
A festive panel of judges Abhay Ahuja and MM Sathaye on Monday extended Wankhede’s interim protection from any coercive action, such as arrest, as he heard his plea to quash the CBI’s FIR against him.
The bench also ordered Wankhede to pledge not to speak to the media about the case, to appear before the CBI as and when called, and not to tamper with evidence.
The CBI recently filed an FIR against Wankhede for allegedly bribery claim of Rs 25 crore for failing to frame Bollywood star Aryan Khan’s son in cruise drug case.
The investigating agency indicted Wankhede and four others on alleged conspiracy and threat of extortion, as well as bribery-related provisions under the Prevention of Corruption Act, on complaints from the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).
The agency said the NCB, Mumbai area received information in October 2021 regarding drug use and possession of various individuals on the private cruise ship, and some of its officers conspired and obtained embezzlement. benefits in the form of bribes from the alleged defendant.
Aryan Khan was arrested by the NCB on 3 October 2021 after a raid on the Cordelia cruise ship. He was granted bail by the Bombay High Court after three weeks as the NCB failed to prove its allegations against him.
