Nick Jonas says his ‘tragic’ mistake on stage while performing with singer Kelsea Ballerini sent him to therapy | Ent & Arts News

Nick Jonas has revealed that a “really tragic” stage performance led him to seek therapy.

The mistake at the Academy of Country Music Awards in 2016 happened as Brother Jonah joined country pop singer Kelsea Ballerini during a performance of her single Peter Pan.

Jonas was out of tune during his guitar solo.

Speaking on the Armchair Expert podcast with Dax Shepard, the Jealous singer said what started out as “good” has slowly turned into “tragic”.

“As I walked towards her, I went completely blank and hit a wrong note and basically passed out and registered that it was wrong and I couldn’t stop,” the 30-year-old singer said.

“In retrospect, I can laugh at how great I thought it was.

“But he traveled more than I wanted to, and got me into therapy.”

“I think it was bad”

Brother Jonas said he couldn’t “figure out exactly what happened” and recalled being rushed out after the show.

“To this day and hours after I unpacked it, I really can’t figure out exactly what happened, but I was rushed into a car and then immediately onto a plane,” Jonas added.

“And I looked at my manager and said, ‘I think it was bad.’ I was like in shock.

“Like it was a really traumatic moment that shaped the pressure I put on myself to be perfect and to always be there.”

The singer said he has since been trying to heal from the crash, which he called “the worst time”.

At the time, the performance made headlines with many outlets branding it a “failure”.

Earlier this month, Nick said the band was getting into new positions so they could feel “butterflies and excitement” before kicking off their tour at New York’s Yankee Stadium in August.

“It’s the stadium of our favorite baseball team our entire lives,” he said.

“We are due to go to a game and meet some of the players about a month ago.

“And we were just looking around, thinking our 10-year-old version who was sitting in the top seat of the nosebleed section wouldn’t believe we were going to play this seat twice.”
