7 dead as cruiser vehicle falls into gorge in Jammu & Kashmir’s Kishtwar | Jammu news

JAMMU: At least 7 people were killed and two others injured after a cruise vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge at the Dangduru Dam site in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar on Wednesday.
According to the sources, “A cruise vehicle carrying Dangduru Power Project workers had an accident near the Dachan area site resulting in the loss of six lives.”
“Rescue operations are underway,” the sources said.
They said, “One of the seriously injured died en route to hospital and the other two were transferred to GMC Kishtwar.”
“The identification of the deceased has yet to be ascertained,” the sources added.
Confirming the seven fatalities, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kishtwar Khalil Poswal said, “An unfortunate traffic accident involving a cruise vehicle occurred near the Dangduru Power Project site (Dachan area), carrying workers from the project after their turn had been changed.”
“Seven people have been killed as efforts are underway to transfer two wounded to Kishtwar for specialist treatment,” SSP Kishtwar said.

Meanwhile, union minister Dr Jitendra Singh said, ‘He spoke to DC Kishtwar Dr Devansh Yadav about the unfortunate road accident at the Dangduru Dam site.
“Seven dead and 1 seriously injured. The injured are being transferred to Kishtwar District Hospital or GMC Doda as required. All possible help will be provided if needed,” Union Minister Dr Singh tweeted.
