Ravindra Jadeja provided a grandstand finish, hitting a six and a four with 10 needed from his last two balls, to stun the Gujarat Titans as CSK won by five wickets (DLS method) in a rain-reduced thriller at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
CSK chased the revised target of 171 in 15 overs, after rain stopped play in the first over of their run-chase, after GT’s 214/4.
After the match, Pandya said that it was Dhoni’s destiny to win the title and that he didn’t mind losing to someone who has been his mentor.
“I am very happy for him. Fate has written this for him. If I lose, I don’t mind losing to him. Good things happen to good people,” said Pandya.
Pandya said they are leaving the field with their heads held high for the effort they have put in over the past two months.
“I think we tick a lot of boxes and play with our hearts. We’ve always been a team that stuck together and nobody gave up. We win together and we lose together. Maybe one of those matches today,” he said. she said. “I mean, I’m not one to make excuses.”
