NEW DELHI: A 16-year-old girl, Sakshi, was stabbed 34 times in full public view, kicked and her head crushed with a concrete block by a man named Sahil in Delhi’s Shahbad Dairy on Sunday night.
Here’s what we know so far about Sakshi’s killer
- Sahil is a 20-year-old man who was arrested on Monday from Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr for killing Sakshi.
- Sahil was known to be in a relationship with her.
- He worked as an air conditioning and refrigerator mechanic in the area.
- Sahil was caught on CCTV stabbing the victim more than two dozen times and then beating her with a concrete slab. The brutality of the crime has aroused strong reactions.
- According to the initial investigation, Sahil fought with Sakshi one day before killing her.
- Sahil used a long knife during the assault, which he had recently bought.
- Sahil, son of Sarfaraz, wore the kalava, a sacred Hindu thread, on his wrist to mislead the police.
- His father Sarfaraz had moved to this location two years ago. He stayed here with his wife, three daughters and his son Khan.
- Neighbors said Sahil Khan remained mostly silent and didn’t interact much, but would be offended if someone pulled a religious joke.
