Poonch: Three terrorists arrested with 10kg IEDs, weapons, drugs along LoC in Poonch; wounded soldier in op | News from India

JAMMU: On Wednesday alerted security forces thwarted an infiltration bid and narcotics smuggling attempt and arrested three terrorists along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir Poonch district with an improvised explosive device (IED), war stores and drugs worth thousands of rupees in the international market.
An army jawan and one of the terrorists were injured in a firefight during the operation. A cordon and search operation was underway in the area, the defense spokesman said Lieutenant Colonel Devender Anand.
The recovery included an AK-56 rifle with 10 rounds in the magazine (the rest of the ammunition was fired by the wounded terrorist), two pistols with two magazines, 70 pistol rounds, an IED weighing approximately 10-12 kg, six Chinese grenades and 20 packets of narcotics, added the lieutenant colonel.
Sources said the trio are identified as Poonch residents Mohammed Riaz (23); Mohammed Zubair (22); AND Mohammad Faroq (26) who was wounded — he was in charge of receiving the consignment of weapons and drugs from across the border, but was captured by troops while doing so.
“A joint army and police team intercepted about three to four terrorists near the LoC in the Poonch sector as they tried to cross the border fence during the night of May 30-31, taking advantage of inclement weather and heavy rains “said the lieutenant Colonel Anand She said.
After tracking their movement, a firefight broke out between the infiltrators and the security forces at around 1:30 am, resulting in the injuries of a soldier and a terrorist. “Three terrorists were arrested with weapons, war shops including IEDs and narcotics,” the spokesman said, adding that traces of blood were found in the area.
