Row ‘hijab’: Scarf won’t be mandatory in uniform, says school | News from Bhopal

BHOPAL: A day after Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan ordered an inquiry into the school hijab line in Damoh, the school held a press meeting to announce that the “scarf/dupatta” will not be a compulsory part of the uniform for schoolgirls.
Damoh collector Mayank Agrawal had asked the school management to relax the rule of wearing scarf/hijab for female students and not to recite prayers like “Lab Pe Aati Hai Dua” during the assembly. Only, the national anthem will be sung. The school agreed and said wearing the scarf or dupatta is voluntary.
In a press release, the school management expressed regret if anyone felt hurt by the incident.
The investigation committee set up under the instructions of the CM will continue with its investigation, officials said. tnn
