West Asia: EAM Jaishankar meets newly-appointed UK foreign secretary David Cameron; discusses Indo-Pacific situation | India News

NEW DELHI: External affairs minister S Jaishankar met the newly appointed British foreign secretary David Cameron on Monday and exchanged views on the situation in West Asia, the Ukraine conflict and the Indo-Pacific.
Congratulating Cameron on his appointment, foreign minister Jaishankar wrote on X, “A pleasure to meet UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron this afternoon on his first day in office.Congratulated him on his appointment.”

“Look forward to working with him closely,” the minister added.
The reshuffle occurred on the same day that departing foreign secretary James Cleverly was due to have one-on-one meetings with the foreign minister S Jaishankar.
Jaishankar is currently in the UK for a five-day official visit, and on Sunday he conducted tea-time talks with the UK PM Rishi Sunak at 10 Downing Street.
The meeting came a few hours after UK prime minister Rishi Sunak sacked Suella Braverman during the cabinet reshuffle. James Cleverly was appointed as the interior minister.
