NEW DELHI: IAS officer Manoj Kumar Singh on Sunday took charge as the chief secretary of Uttar Pradesh succeeding Durga Shankar Mishra.
Holding an important position in ‘Team Yogi‘, Singh is a 1988-batch IAS officer.
According to an official statement, Singh was one of the officers cherry-picked by Yogi Adityanath for their “integrity, tenacity, and a strong work ethic” after assuming the chief ministerial role in 2017.
“We will work in coordination with all the departments to achieve the targets that the CM has determined for the betterment of the people of the state”, he said.
“Projects worth Rs 10 lakh crores are to be implemented and that too at a good pace to provide employment on one side and also to increase the contribution of the manufacturing sector to the state GDP, all departments will work to achieve this,” he added.

The statement also highlighted that during the Covid-19 pandemic, Singh played a crucial role in teams that effectively managed and controlled the virus’s spread in rural areas.
His efforts were pivotal in achieving the declaration of all 75 districts in Uttar Pradesh as open defecation-free and in constructing the highest number of toilets in the state, the release said.
Throughout his career, Singh has fulfilled significant administrative roles, serving as district magistrate in Lalitpur, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Pilibhit, Moradabad, and Aligarh, as well as divisional commissioner in Moradabad.
