NEW DELHI: Virat Kohli’s decision of not taking DRS turned out to be costly for the star India batter after he was trapped lbw by Bangladesh spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz on the second day of the first Test in Chennai on Friday.
Kohli was given out lbw by umpire Richard Kettleborough. After a brief conversation with Shubman Gill, he opted against reviewing the decision.

It was a full ball delivered at 84.9kph, with Kohli leaning forward to flick it through the on-side but missing the shot, getting struck low on the front pad in front of off-stump.It looked plumb.

However, UltraEdge later revealed a spike-there was an inside edge, and even Kohli wasn’t aware of it.
Kohli’s costly error left skipper Rohit Sharma visibly baffled, as he appeared frustrated with Kohli’s decision not to take the DRS review.

India reached 81 for three at stumps in their second innings, extending their overall lead to 308 runs against Bangladesh. Shubman Gill (33*) and Rishabh Pant (12*) were unbeaten at the crease when play ended for the day.
Earlier, Bangladesh were bowled out for a meager 149 in their first innings, handing India a commanding first-innings lead of 227 runs.
