Money mania! For IPL players, Jay Shah announces a whopping new match fee of Rs… | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah on Saturday introduced a match fee of a whopping 7.5 lakhs per game for cricketers featuring in the Indian Premier League.
Shah, in a social media post made the mega announcement, saying that the players will earn Rs 7.5 lakhs match fee for every game they feature in the IPL.
This means that a player featuring in all the league matches for the season will get Rs.1.05 crores apart from his contract amount.

Currently, the players receive the contracted amount based on their auction or retention.
Additionally, they earn a share of the Player of the Match award if they are part of the Playing XI.
Along with Shah’s announcement, the IPL retention rules for all the 10 teams are also expected after the Governing Council meeting.
It has been reported that the board, after reviewing various suggestions from team owners, is likely to finalize a plan allowing five player retentions and one Right to Match option per team for the IPL 2025 auction.
In a meeting with all 10 IPL team owners held in July, the board aimed to reach a consensus on retention rules, especially as major franchises like Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings face crucial decisions regarding high-profile players, including MS Dhoni, ahead of the auction.
The date for the mega auction, most likely in the second week of November, too could be announced along with its venue.
It could not be immediately confirmed whether the decisions regarding the retention and auction will be made public after the day’s meeting or after tabling it in Sunday’s AGM for detailed discussion.
