DUBAI: Indian star drummer Virat Kohli has been named ICC Men’s Player of the Month for October 2022 after some outstanding performances in the game’s shortest format.
Kohli is celebrating his first “Player of the Month” award after logging 205 runs with the bat and showcasing the full spectrum of his batting talent throughout October.
Kohli produced unforgettable innings in the stunning win over Pakistan in front of a huge crowd in Melbourne to kick off India’s ‘Super 12’ campaign at the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup in Australia.
With India 31/4 one step away from their T20 World Cup opener against Pakistan, Kohli asserted his dominance over opposing bowlers in a memorable display of controlled aggression, ultimately guiding his team to chase the goal of 160 points from the final ball, thanks to his undefeated 82 from 53 balls.
The Indian talisman wins the award after being nominated for the first time, beating out a competitive field that included sublime South African finisher David Miller and in-form Zimbabwean Sikandar Raza, both of whom have benefited from key World Cup contributions T20.
“It is a great honor for me to have been voted ICC Men’s Player of the Month for October. To be chosen as the best player by the fans around the world as well as the panel makes this distinction even more special for me,” ICC said. Virat Kohli said after receiving the award.
