A body was found off Mexico, near where an Arizona couple disappeared while kayaking on Thanksgiving, officials said Sunday.
The body was discovered near Playa Encanto in Puerto Peñasco, also known as Rocky Point, Mexico, as search and rescue teams scoured the area for Corey Allen and his wife Yeon-Su Kim, the security said Sonoran Mexican civilian.
“After an intense search operation by air, sea and land, the Secretary of the Navy reports to the Civil Defense of Sonora, the discovery of a body in Playa Encanto, with characteristics similar to one of the two missing persons,” tweeted the agency Sunday afternoon. .
Authorities did not immediately confirm the body’s identity.

Flagstaff’s Allen and Kim were kayaking with their teenage daughter around 1 p.m. Thursday in Puerto Peñasco when the wind started picking up, family and friends said. Allen helped his daughter back to shore and he is believed to have returned for Kim before the pair disappeared.
“With the wind and current I know they probably knew something was up,” Tavane McCombs, who coordinated the search, told AZ Family. “Even an experienced kayaker would have had problems with what was happening that day.”
MISSING GEORGIA MAN FOUND DEAD IN POND
Flagstaff police told FOX10 Phoenix they are aware of reports of the missing couple, but have no direct information about the search.
Mexican authorities had tweeted on Saturday that a search was underway for two Americans, along with a photo of the couple.
Allen is a real estate agent and Kim is a professor of ecological economics at Northern Arizona University’s School of Forestry. The couple reportedly have two teenage children.
