Golfer “bit competitor’s nose” in line for game | US News

A golfer has been accused of biting his competitor’s nose in a casino parking lot during an argument about their game, police said.

Suspect Mark Wells, 51, of Biloxi, Mississippi, initially fled the scene before turning himself in, Bay St Louis Police Chief Toby Schwartz said.

The nose was not found and the victim was taken to hospital, local TV reported.

Officers responding to a report of assault at the city’s Hollywood Casino arrived to find a man with a disfiguring facial wound.

“The investigation determined that the suspect, Mark Curtis Wells, bit off the victim’s nose,” Schwartz said.

“Criminal Chaos”

Officers were told Mr. Wells and the victim had been arguing throughout the day over a round of golf they had previously played at the resort.

Mr. Wells has been charged with criminal mayhem.

He faces up to seven years in prison if convicted of the charge, which state law defines premeditated “felony committed with intent to kill in which the suspect mutilates, disfigures, disables, or destroys the tongue, eye, lip, someone’s nose, limb, or other part of the body.”
