Exit Polls Predict BJP Poised For Landslide Victory In Gujarat, Has Lead Over Congress In Himachal Pradesh | Gujarat Election News

NEW DELHI: The BJP is poised for a record seventh straight victory in Gujarat, while it could be a close contest in Himachal Pradesh with the Saffron Party having a clear lead over Congress, according to exit poll forecasts.
Exit polls forecast a massive win for the BJP in Gujarat, where it is likely to surpass its previous best performance of 127 seats in the state.
In Himachal, the Saffron Party and the Congress may be locked in a close fight. in any case, the exit poll survey shows that the BJP will manage to reach half of the state. While most exit polls predict a BJP victory in the state, the Axis-My India exit poll shows Congress ahead in the hill state.
The Aam Aadmi party, which had waged a high-pitched campaign in Gujarat led by its leader Arvind Kejriwal, will make marginal gains in the state but fall short of its lofty claims to upset the BJP’s apple cart.
Exit polls predict that AAP could just about make it into double digits in the state.
Record victory for the BJP in Gujarat
In Gujarat, the BJP government is ready to write another historic victory. Today’s predictions, if confirmed on Dec. 8, could reverse the decline in the party’s share of seats since the last four elections.
Exit polls predict about 134 seats for the BJP and 37 for Congress. The AAP can only manage about 7 seats.
The BJP has ruled the state since 1995 and recorded its best record in 2002 when it won 127 seats. However, the party’s share of seats has been declining since then. In 2017, the BJP was capped at 99 seats while Congress handled 77. However, several Congressional MLAs have left the party to join the BJP in the past five years.
In the run-up to the 2022 assembly elections, the BJP ran a very strong campaign in Gujarat led by Prime Minister Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Prime Minister Modi carried out a record 50km road show in Ahmedabad as well as holding several rallies across the state. Amit Shah, as always, was the BJP’s master strategist.
Congress has been campaigning quietly in the state, and the predictions may not come as a surprise to the party. Rahul Gandhi, who leads the Bharat Jodo Yatra, campaigned in the state for just one day. The party, however, claims that his campaign has been discreet and door-to-door.
Meanwhile, Arvind Kejriwal’s AAP could take some comfort in the low-key opening he’s managed in the state.
BJP lead in close Himachal contest
In Himachal Pradesh, exit polls predict a close confrontation between the BJP and Congress, with the Saffron Party ahead of the grand old party.
The exit poll poll predicts 35 seats for the BJP, which is only half of the assembly. Congress will win just 29 seats, exit polls predict.
However, the India Today-Axis-My India exit poll forecasts 35 seats for Congress and 29 for the BJP in the state.

Priyanka Himachal

If the BJP manages to win Himachal, it will disappoint the Congress as it will be the third state where the grand old party fails to capitalize on the anti-incumbent and benefit from the government alternation trend.
Congress had previously failed to seize power in Kerala where the left has held onto power bucking the trend of alternative governments and in Uttarakhand where the BJP won a second consecutive term.
The Congress campaign in the state was led by Priyanka Gandhi who was hoping for a good outcome in the state after the disastrous outcome in Uttar Pradesh where the grand old party under her leadership recorded one of its worst performances ever.
Rahul Gandhi ironically has not held a single rally in the state.
