According to sources of the University Scholarship Committee, a commission is working on the fixed exam schedule. Expert officials said the standardized calendar will help aspirants better prepare for different exams.
The competitive trials schedule was disrupted by the outbreak of the Covid-9 pandemic in 2020.
“The dates of the JEE (main) would be in mid-January and April, while the CUET-UG will probably take place between the third week of April and the first week of May. NEET-UG will continue to be held on the first Sunday of May. The exact dates will be communicated separately closer to the exams. The calendar is also likely to announce the probable period of the application process,” an official said.
While a portion of JEE (Main) and NEET-UG applicants are calling for the two engineering entrance tests to be conducted in April and May and the medical entrance test in June, officials said this will push the new academic session again beyond August.
“If the first JEE (major) were to take place in April, the aspirants, many of whom take all three exams, would present for back-to-back exams without interruption. Also the idea of conducting the exam twice is to give an opportunity to improve and to ensure that in case a candidate is unable to appear in one for various reasons, they will have some time to prepare. Consecutive examinations will not serve the purpose,” the official said.
While notification for JEE (Main)-January is likely this week, notifications for the other exams are expected to be issued around March and April respectively.
