A “major search and rescue operation” has been launched after a ship collided with a fishing vessel, which is believed to have sunk, off the coast of Jersey.
The incident occurred around 5:30 this morning at sea in the bay of St Ouen.
The wreckage of the fishing boat is in the sea.
RNLI coastal and all-weather lifeboats joined the search, along with two French rescue helicopters, the RNLI all-weather lifeboat from Guernsey and a fixed-wing aircraft from the French Navy.
A large number of local fishing boats also joined in the search.
