It is unclear so far whether or not the grenade went off, but according to police sources, no casualties were reported in the incident.

According to police sources, the grenade landed on the iron gate of Sanjh Kendra of Sarhali Police Station. He was also informed that some window panes and a small part of the Sanjh Kendra wall had been damaged. According to sources, eight policemen were present at the police station at the time of the attack.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Tarn Taran Gurmeet Singh could not be reached for comment.
“A preliminary investigation reveals that at around 11.22pm last night, a grenade was fired from the highway using an RPG. It hit the center of Suvidha of Sarhali Police Station. An FIR was registered under UAPA The forensic team has reached the place. The army team is here too,” Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav told ANI.

DGP Yadav hinted that the hardware used in the attack may have been smuggled from Pakistan.
“We will investigate technically and forensically, we are collecting all the clues from the crime scene in order to reconstruct what happened. We are recovering the launcher. Preliminary probe reveals that it should be military-grade hardware and could be a matter of trans “border smuggling . Very clear indication that it is a strategy of the neighboring nation to bleed India with a thousand cuts. The Punjab Police, with the BSF and central agencies, will investigate,” DGP Yadav added.
