Gmail is back after a nearly two-hour outage

Google email service GMail came back after almost two hours of interruption. Both the app and the desktop version of the world’s most popular email service were down. Google acknowledged the outage on the Google Workspace dashboard after about an hour. Gmail service is shown in red, which means service outage. All other Google services showed in green that no other services experienced downtime. Gmail has over 1.5 billion users worldwide. The email app was among the most downloaded apps of 2022.

Downdetector, the website that tracks the online status of apps and websites, has shown a Gmail outage since 7pm. Reports peaked at around 20:28 with 315 users reporting outages. The downdetector website also tweeted about the outage. “User reports show Gmail has been having issues since 9:12am EST. http://downdetector.com/status/gmail/ RT if you’re having issues too #Gmaildown,” the website tweeted. It’s also not clear how widespread the outage was. Several users on Twitter reported it Gmail doesn’t work for them. From the tweets, it appears that the outage has spread to several countries.
