Two students die after bus overturns in Raigad in Maharashtra | Pune News


RAIGAD: A bus carrying 48 students overturned, killing two and injuring many others in Raigad district, Maharashtra on Sunday night.
The incident happened at 8.00 pm on the old Mumbai-Pune road below the Khopoli Police Station.

“The students were returning from the picnic when the bus overturned. One case has been recorded,” police said.

A total of 48 students, and two of their teachers from the Mayank Tutorials coaching courses at Chembur in Mumbai, were returning from a picnic in the ill-fated private bus.
The deceased, identified as Kritika Khanna and Raj Mhatre, were class 10 students.
“The 48 Mayank Tutorials students had gone for a picnic at the ‘Wet N Joy’ theme park in Maval, near Lonavala. While driving back to Mumbai via the old Mumbai-Pune road, the bus suddenly overturned in the section ghat, near Magic Point. The incident happened at 20:00 and all the students were rushed to various hospitals and private clinics in Khopoli. Two of the students died of their injuries,” an officer said of Khopoli Police.
The bus driver and the cleaner, who were also injured, will soon be questioned by Khopoli police officers, to learn more details.
Khopoli Police also informed that the crash site at Magic Point in Raigad district was soon cleared for highway traffic by moving the bus away from the road.
