After committing the murder, the man dumped his father’s body parts down a well in his field near the Mantur ring road.
According to police sources, the deceased is identified as Parashuram Kulali (54 years old) while the accused is Vitthal Kulali.
The accident occurred at mudhol on December 6, but came to light on Tuesday, when police launched an investigation based on a missing persons report filed by the deceased’s wife.
Bagalkot SP Jayaprakash told TOI that during the interrogation, the accused Vitthal confessed to the crime on Monday.
“It was learned that the late Parashuram was an alcoholic and quarreled with family members. He was survived by two sons and three daughters.”
He had an argument with Vitthal about some silly matters on December 6 at his camp, located on the Mantur ring road near the town of Mudhol. As the arguments continued between the son and the father, Vitthal lost his temper and took a rod and started hitting his father with the rod, killing him instantly.
He tried to hide the body in the defunct well but could not as the diameter of the well was 6-8 inches. So, he decided to cut his father’s body into several pieces. After dismembering the body, he dumped the body parts down the well.
The defendant and the deceased are said to have stayed in the same house while the deceased’s wife Saraswati was staying separately with her eldest son in her last years.
The defendant also informed that another person also helped him in the crime, we are gathering more information about that person to catch him, SP said.
He further said, “Parashuram’s wife Saraswati had filed a missing report at Mudhol Police Station. Based on a missing report, we launched an investigation into the case. an investigation. During our investigation, he revealed the beans and revealed the entire episode of the murder case. The defendant used a sharp weapon to cut his father’s body into several pieces.”
Mudhol Police also visited the camp and excavated the area where the body pieces were buried using a digger and recovered the body parts.
“We have arrested the defendant and he has been placed in judicial custody,” they added.
